In my book you can’t beat a piece of Curly Maple. One of my local buddies has quite a nice collection of really unusual wood, while there one time I asked what he had in Curly Maple and he pulled out 5 little slabs from a crotch.

I think the combination of these three woods makes for a very attractive lid. The bubinga was thick enough to allow some shaping to the side of the box. Making the miter joints is always a challenge as I make them on a Craftsman table …
